I purposed, before the birth of my daughter, to be the kind of mom I'd long wanted to be. At all costs. Unbeknownst to her, my daughter had thrown me a challenge. I needed to use my God-given talents and life's passions to be productive while still working around her needs and her schedule. Here are some daily adventures and small successes.

Stuff I meant to blog about - Montreal's South Shore family photographer Rive Sud famille

How these beauties and this stunning location escaped the blogosphere, I'm not sure. Better late than never though. As for me, I'm reminded of lovely fall days and crisp apples.

Under wraps - Montreal's South Shore child photographer Rive Sud enfants

Since I want to be sure not to expose to many surprises, I don't typically post too much of what happens at the Christmas miniSessions before Christmas. So let me shamelessly show off my sweet daughter, as I snapped a few shots of her during the indoor miniSession this year.

I was over the moon to have the honour of shooting at such a beautiful location. The good people at Centred de Jardin Brossard gave me special access to their sublime retail space. They really go all out at Christmas. I can't say enough about what a wonderland it is. And because they're basically a giant greenhouse, we didn't have the weather to contend with. Beyond perfect.

If you've never visited them, you definitely should!

Remember summer? *sigh* - Montreal's South Shore family photographer famille Rive-Sud

With its warmth and its daylight savings time?

Lucky for me, I sometimes edit summer shoots well into November. And I feel an infusion of vitamin D with every click of the mouse.

Two expectant - Montreal's South Shore maternity photographer Rive Sud

Beautiful golden hour in Vieux LaPrairie with this perfectly sweet couple as they await the arrival of their new little one. They didn't need to wait long, actually. Several hours after the shoot was all wrapped up, this mama went into labour! You'll meet their brand new baby girl on my blog very soon!

Incubating some - Montreal's South Shore maternity photographer

Chilly weather means moving things inside. When it comes to maternity sessions, I can't exactly ask mommy to hold out until spring. Enter the Westmount Greenhouse.

Here's just a peek at the fun we had while the coldest February in over 100 years raged on outside...

These lovebirds, on the anniversary of their engagement - Montreal's South Shore wedding photog de marriage Rive-Sud

Warmth. Sweetness. Lovely love. It was all in the air that day...

This barn location (Grange Manson Barn) in Magog had such an amazing rustic appeal. And I was swooning over the surrounding landscape, perfect for portraits of the newlyweds.

Favorites - Montreal's South Shore family photog famille Rive-Sud

I'm allowed to have favorites. I mean, photographers aren't like parents. Parents aren't supposed to have favorites. (But some of you do...I know it's true. Don't look at me like that...)

So here are my favorites. For oh-so-many reasons.

Maybe they're my favorites because their eldest is my daughter's bestie for life. Or maybe it's because spending an afternoon with their youngest is more laughs than a set at YukYuk's or the Laugh Factory. It may be because their sweet middle child is the kindest, gentlest little boy you will ever (read: E-VERRR) meet.

Growing along - Montreal's South Shore family photographer Rive-Sud

If you have been following me for a little while, perhaps you will remember this family...

They've changed a little since last year...

Remember them yet? Maybe this will help, from 2 years ago...

It's a real pleasure and honour to capture a family as it grows along together. It's my privilege to see the same faces over time, and be not only a family photographer, but that family's photographer. It is at the top of the list of things I love most about my job. I'm so grateful.

Here's a bit more from this gorgeous and fun family's latest photo session with me...

Christmas miniSession faves - Montreal's South Shore family photog de famille Rive Sud

Back in early autumn, it was Christmas miniSession time. For so many reasons.

1) It isn't stinking cold, so we can dress our kids as we like.
Of course, that day it decided to hit a balmy 30 degrees Celsius instead of the standard 20. Which is so typically Canadian. Since I remember booking early October sessions and fighting Mother Nature to keep it above freezing.

2) Loads of time to procrastinate for other things.
Raise your hand if you have not yet done Christmas photos that you'd sincerely intended on getting done this year. Yup. That looks about right.

There are more reasons. But I don't love long blog posts. So let me stop at two. ;)

Here are just some of the sweet moments caught this year...

Love in the autumn air - Montreal's South Shore couple photographer rive sud

So this was a lovely surprise.

Proud big sister contacted me one day, announcing her sister's engagement. The plan: lure beloved little sister and new fiancé to lovely location. Only big sister never arrived. And I would have the pleasure of announcing I would be their engagement photographer for the morning.

(Seriously, where were the reality TV cameras?)

Here is some of the fun we had...

Adventures with this one - Montreal's South Shore photog in Mont Tremblant

Spotted an abandoned*, dilapidated "casse croute" on the side of  HWY 117, heading into Tremblant.

By abandoned I mean, of course, I thought it was abandoned. I mean. doesn't it look abandoned? So we got a couple of shots in, and were (abruptly) informed that the premises were in fact not actually abandoned. Really? I mean...really?
